DISINTEREST, THE SAVIOUR OF THE MIND

There is always something to check up on
Surfing all day long, social media, all the facilities where the world went so wrong
Filling the mind with so much dross
As though missing out would cause any loss
And everyone talks about the wonders of technology
If you're bound by it, give your mind an apology
For it's the same mind that needs and craves stability
When things go wrong suddenly
Mind is in bondage to all its interests
Attached to facilities, the mind has no rest
The yogi checks out from all that he invests
Bringing the mind's energy to a source point is his main interest
All that entertainment that keeps the mind busy
Left him tired and very dizzy
It is the soul after all that is the generator of all mental energy
That left his mind exhausted and full of lethargy
He has disinterest all around
His mind goes quiet, beyond the pull of sound
And though he does everything he needs to do
But doesn't do all the mind wants to do
He's creating stillness and stability while the world is in chaos
His vibrations reach the world that's filled with superficial gloss
The mind, such a potent sublime, wondrous force
Without disinterest it has no source
Interest generated in far higher things
Will give natural happiness back its wings
All these facilities have their place
But should never invade your inner space
For your inner space is the place you grace
Should not be filled with all that worldly waste
We live in this world of so much nonsense
And wonder why we easily take offence
The secret to it all is what your mind is interested in
The result will be stability or instability within
We've been living in the altered ego far too long
Where irritation reigns and something's always wrong
Moved away from our own true self
The original pure pride of the powerful self
Where all our mental energies were easily kept under our control
When the mind was obedient and did what it is told
The yogi invests only in self realisation
He looks at himself for freedom from any irritation
